Marimekko Unikko Shape Plate

Designed by Maija Isola in 1964, Unikko transformed the world of print design and has since become one of Marimekko’s most celebrated icons. At the time, founder Armi Ratia felt that floral patterns couldn’t truly capture the essence of real flowers, which kept them out of the brand’s collections. Undeterred, Isola reimagined the bloom as a bold, abstract motif rather than a literal depiction, turning a simple flower into a striking statement of creativity. Decades later, Unikko continues to radiate joy and imagination, standing as a vibrant symbol of Marimekko’s playful and distinctive design legacy.
